Buying a property is a complicated business and it can be quite a nerve-wracking time for everyone involved. But while we can’t promise to remove every obstacle, we can help with one key part of the process: the survey.

Everyone who buys a new home with the aid of a mortgage or loan will have to agree and pay the lender for a mortgage valuation. A mortgage valuation is not a survey, and is frequently just a drive-by or even desktop exercise.

We are RICS registered independent chartered surveyors and can carry out a wide range of surveys on any type of residential property. We are usually in the property for a minimum of 3-4 hours, assessing the risks in the building and understanding them.

Our independence means that we work for the individual, not for any lender, broker or estate agent. You can rest assured that our property valuations are given against a background of 25 years expertise in the varied and diverse property markets that fall within a 25-mile radius of our office in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. This means we can cover properties in Hemel Hempstead, Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough, and St Albans. We can also survey properties in Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood, Princes Risborough, Thame, Chesham, Berkhamsted, Tring, Harrow, Pinner, and Uxbridge plus all the villages in between. And we frequently also travel to parts of North, West and Central London.

A personal, dedicated service

Whether you want a full structural survey, a simple market valuation, an RICS Homebuyers survey or advice on a Specific Defect, we are on your side. Depending on what you’ve asked us to do, we use our knowledge and skill to examine the fabric of the building and identify any current or potential problems with it.

We don’t just walk around the property then go online and look up the latest market prices. While we’re on site we’ll be factoring in our knowledge of similar types of property in the area. For more detailed surveys we’ll be looking into lofts and cellars, and examining the roof, the construction materials, and the windows.

If there are any defects we will be diagnosing the causes, considering the appropriate remedies and estimating the costs of repair. Where possible we meet with the vendor and talk to them about their own experiences of living in the property.  Our reports tell you everything you need to know to make an informed decision about going ahead with the purchase or remedial works.
